Dubai tipped to be hot in 2010

07/12/2009

Not booked your next holiday yet? Then you might want to consider Dubai, which is tipped to be the best bargain for 2010 following news of the emirate's deep economic crisis.

As Dubai is heavily dependent on income from tourism, it is expected to offer some pretty good deals to try to lure more foreign visitors to help dig it out of its debt mountain in the New Year.

Some of the emirate's glitzy hotels are already rumoured to be offering up to 50 per cent off their rooms to try to get business in fast.

The discount hotel website www.laterooms.com had a plethora of special offers to Dubai this week, with the price of a three-star hotel down to $68 per room per night. Four-star hotels cost from £75 per night.

For those looking for packages, Destination Dubai (www.destdubai.com) had some special deals this week starting at £655 per person for four nights in a five-star hotel, including flights with Virgin Atlantic (www.virginatlantic.com) and private transfers on arrival.

Kuoni also had a discounted package to the super luxurious five-star Atlantis the Palm hotel, starting from £1,186 per person in January, a discount of £376 per person.

Even better offers are expected to filter through next year as tour operators say they have already been approached by hoteliers keen to drop their rates to bring in business.

Dubai-based Emirates Airlines (www.emirates.com) is also offering discounted fares this week, not just to the Middle East but to long-haul destinations including Africa and Australia.
