Travel agents have Britons" trust

27/02/2008

travel agents have earned the trust of Brits booking holidays, according to a new study.

Holiday Which? magazine commissioned the research which revealed that a high-proportion of people still use travel agents to book their holidays, despite increasing choice on the internet.

Lorna Cowan, editor of Holiday Which? magazine, offered her opinion on why Brits are still choosing to book with travel agents.

"Maybe people want the reassurance of speaking to a specialist before making an important, relatively expensive decision like booking a holiday " she said.

"Lots of people are still using a travel agent to book their holiday and as a source of information and advice " Laura added.

The study found that 44 per cent of those who had booked a foreign trip within the last year had used a travel agent to book at least part of that holiday.

Another 29 per cent said they had either visited or spoken on the phone to a travel agent to gather information about their holiday destination before booking.

Survey respondents said they felt that they had received "honest and trustworthy" advice from their travel agent.

Holiday Which? magazine publishes four issues per year, providing "comprehensive, unbiased" holiday advice and offers a free legal service for members with holiday-related problems.
