Stansted to Munich link opens for business

06/11/2007

The company said that the newly-opened route will offer two flights a day from Monday to Friday and two flights at the weekend.

It will be the eighth route out of Stansted by Air Berlin, with services to Berlin, Hanover and Nuremberg already offered.

Titus Johnson, Air Berlin's country manager for the UK and Ireland, said that many customers had been waiting for the new connection.

"Munich is the ninth Air Berlin direct German destination from the United Kingdom and reinforces our position as the number one value-added choice for travel to Germany," he said.

Nick Barton, business development and planning director at Stansted, described the Munich destination as a "key link" for business passengers as well as a popular leisure destination.

Although positioned in the low-cost airline sector, Air Berlin has not followed others in abandoning traditional services such as free meals and in-flight programmes.
