London City Airport joins the ranks of the "superbrand"

06/03/2008

London City Airport announced this week that it is set to become a 'superbrand'.

The business airport will now join the UK's list of top 500 business brands, joining the likes of British Airways and Air France.

Located on the doorstep of the City and Canary Wharf, the airport says that it is attracting an increasing number of businessmen who are taking advantage of its locality.

Richard Gooding OBE, who is chief executive of London City Airport, said: "It is exciting to see how, in only 20 years, London City Airport has grown from a small regional airport serving almost 133,000 passengers in its first full year of trading, to a staggering 2.9 million passengers in 2007."

London City Airport flies to 300 UK and European destinations and is served by 11 airlines.

Earlier this week, Singapore Airlines announced that it is to turn five of its aircraft into business class only planes in order to dramatically increase business class capacity on its routes between Singapore and US destinations, New York and Los Angeles.
