Daredevil holidaymakers warned to check their travel insurance

22/05/2009

Anyone inspired by the likes of Tyler Bradt, who has just set a new world-record for kayaking 180ft over Palouse Falls in the U.S, should check they have comprehensive travel insurance before tacking any similar activities while on holiday.

Tyler smashed previous title-holder Pedro Oliveira's record by an incredible 59ft ? and there are rumours that he is off to Iceland this summer for some more daredevil pursuits which may encourage others seeking 'boys own' type adventures to follow in his footsteps.

Nothing wrong with that, but holidaymakers need to make sure that their chosen activity is covered by their travel insurance. If it's not, they should buy additional cover.

Insurewithease standard travel insurance provides free cover for numerous hazardous activities including kayaking, canoeing and rafting in white water up to grade 3, but if you are planning anything more extreme, comprehensive cover is available on payment of an additional premium.

Insurewithease also offers cover for a wide range of other dangerous activities such as rock climbing, micro lighting, deep sea scuba diving and sky diving. Holidaymakers are reminded that cover is only provided for participation as an amateur. They must ensure the activity is properly supervised, and that they wear appropriate safety equipment.
