Cheap cost of ferry travel "popular with Brits"

06/08/2008

The cheap cost of ferry travel is becoming increasingly popular with holidaying Brits, one expert has said this week.

According to Take the Family, which provides information on hand-picked family holidays, due to the credit crunch UK holidaymakers are having to budget to go abroad, which makes ferry travel an appealing option.

Lucy Ace, managing director of Take the Family said: "We have seen an increase in holidays closer to home and I think many people will choose car and ferry over air travel to reduce costs."

She added children also enjoy this form of travel as for them it is an adventure.

Ms Ace went as far to say that even if it rained, youngsters still get excited about going on holiday and having new experiences.

On April 12th last year the Shipping Times revealed that more than 235,000 passengers passed through the Port of Dover over the four days of the Easter holiday weekend in 2007.

Furthermore, Calais, Dunkerque and Boulogne also experienced an increase in cars passing through their ports.
