Brits seeking new experiences on holiday, says expert

13/08/2008

Brits are increasingly looking to have new experiences on holiday rather than lounging on the beach, according to one expert.

Sharon Livingston, the editor of travel Magazine claimed that new innovations such as extreme sports are a big draw for holidaymakers when deciding where to take their breaks.

Holidaymakers undertaking activities such as bungee jumping or sky-diving should ensure that their travel insurance covers them for extreme sports.

Ms Livingston explained: "I certainly think that the innovative types of experiences that are available will have increased and piqued people's interest to travel."

She added that the cruise industry has been particularly innovative, offering holidays themed around certain types of music or activities.

Luxury travel magazine predicts that China, South America and the Far East will grow in popularity with British holidaymakers.

Research conducted by the International Luxury travel Market last year revealed that India, Russia and China are becoming holiday hotspots.
