People planning Christmastime and winter travel should take advantage of the railways this year according to thetrainline.com.
Given current economic circumstances this is likely to be the tightest Christmas in years.
With less people setting off on foreign holidays this year due to spiralling prices and the added cost of winter travel insurance the railway company is counting on more people travelling internally.
Those who book train tickets ahead are set to receive up to a 39 per cent discount.
Commercial director at thetrainline.com Ben Pearson said: "Christmas is a prime time for rail travel as people visit friends and family across the UK."
