Ace Ventura pet detective would have his work cut out for him in the small Worcestershire town of Stourbridge, also known as the Bermuda Triangle for cats.
A confirmed 45 unfortunate felines have mysteriously disappeared from the town's quiet streets in only eight years and no bodies have been found, the Daily Mail reported.
The situation has become so dire that even the RSPCA refuses to re-home cats there for fear that they will only disappear.
Distraught pet owners believe now is the time for action and are considering erecting CCTV cameras to try to solve the mystery.
One Stourbridge cat owner, Cheryl Vine, said: "There must be people trapping them and using them for something because cats will always drag themselves home if they are injured."
The World Wide Pet Industry Association has said pet insurance customers can keep cats safe this forthcoming Halloween, by following some precautionary measures, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.
Chocolate and sweets must be kept out of reach, candles flames should be extinguished near cats and care must be taken when opening and closing the door to trick or treaters.
