PDSA calls for sponsors

24/10/2008

TThe PDSA is calling on animal lovers in Portsmouth to help raise funds to ensure it is able to continue its work.

According to the Portsmouth News, fundraisers from the organisation are calling at homes in the city to attempt to get people to sponsor some pet patients.

John Cole, head of direct marketing at the PDSA, said: "By sponsoring a PDSA pet patient, you will be helping much-loved companions enjoy a healthy and happy life."

Pet insurance customers interested in supporting the scheme will be given an information pack with details of their chosen pet, as well as a photo, the newspaper notes.

The PDSA has been providing care for pets since 1917 when it was founded by Maria Dickin CBE.

Earlier this week, the organisation's newest hospital was officially opened.

PDSA trustee Chris Heaps was on hand to cut the ribbon on the Kirkdale PetAid facility, which is the most advanced in the country.
