London Luton Airport serves 10m passengers per year

03/03/2008

London Luton Airport has revealed that it now serves ten million passengers per year.

A spokesperson for the airport said: "Luton Airport, managed by TBI, has multiplied its passenger traffic by five in the last decade and is one of the most important airports in Great Britain in number of passengers and routes in service."

The introduction of new airlines and more than 40 new routes at the airport over the last two years have significantly contributed to the rise in passengers at the hub, according to the airport.

Airlines such as easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Monarch, Flybe and Thomsonfly all operate from London Luton to more than 90 destinations in Europe, Africa and North America.

Low-cost business class airline Silverjet also operates long-haul flights from London Luton to New York and Dubai.

Furthermore, SkyEurope has announced recently that it is set to operate flights from London Luton to Bratislava, Prague, Kosice and Poprad.

London Luton has a runway that is 2,160 metres long, parking space for 36 commercial aircraft, two passenger terminals, a cargo terminal and hangars for business aviation.
