InterRailing offers great flexibility for those wanting to explore Europe at their ease and is also a green way to travel, according to an expert.
STA travel says that the holiday is still one of the most popular ways to travel Europe with people able to explore 30 countries on one ticket.
"With frequent, reliable, comfortable services straight to the heart of your destination it's a fantastic way to travel, " said a spokesperson from the travel company.
The price options differ, with it costing just £24 to explore one country or a global pass giving access to more than one of the participating countries costing £115.
Gapyear.com estimates that 230, 000 18 to 24-year-olds choose a gap year each year, with the career gappers market of 25 to 35-year-olds continuing to grow to around 90 000.
STA travel has also reported an increase the number of people taking a gap year, saying it is up 11 per cent on last year.
