Holidaymakers 'really explore the outdoors' camping

27/02/2008

Holidaymakers get the chance to "really explore the outdoors" when they take camping holidays, says one expert.

Tour operator Europcamp said this week that camping trips are ideal for those looking to get back to nature and also tipped the breaks a "greener holiday option".

"Families can make the most out of local attractions and Eurocamp parks often personify the culture and traditions of the destination," said Eurocamp's head of sales and marketing, Ruth Start.

She added that camping holidays provide varied accommodation types to suit every budget and taste and are "good value for money".

Europcamp also stressed its green credentials by highlighting its public transport links with Rail Europe, which it says encourages its campers to avoid jetting-off on their travels.

In May 2007, the AA reported a "boom" in the popularity of camping and caravanning holidays, which it said, was beginning to have an impact on the consumer's choice of car.
