Holiday homeowners 'should get insurance with travel cover'

18/08/2008

Holiday homeowners have been advised to look out for insurance which comes with public liability and emergency travel cover by one expert.

According to motoring firm the AA, this type of policy will mean that if something happens to their foreign property their travel costs will be covered should they need to attend to a problem unexpectedly.

Ian Crowder, public relations manager for the AA said: "If you're looking to insure a holiday home, these are the sorts of things that you really ought to consider."

He explained that if a holiday homeowner's property was to suffer from a fire or was burgled they would need to get out to the country it is in very quickly.

A study conducted by Zurich Private Clients recently revealed that one in ten people did not have insurance for their holiday homes.

Furthermore, 11 per cent of those surveyed were unsure of whether their insurance was sufficient despite the average holiday home containing valuables worth £15,200.
