Gatwick prepares for Easter getaway

The Association of British travel Agents is predicting a lower number of Easter travellers than previous years but still 600,000 passengers are expected to pass through Gatwick airport over the bank holiday period.

School holidays are split this year with some only off for the bank holiday before a usual two week break next month.

Gatwick Airport is still preparing itself, with Sunday 23rd March predicted to be the busiest with 108,000 passengers travelling through the airport.

Justin Fleming, president of ABTA said: "The early Easter has given our customers the extra option of heading to the slopes as well as topping up their tans and the extended peak period has also seen a flattening out of prices."

Passengers are being reminded that new security rules are still in force over the bank holiday period at all UK airports.

Unless on a connecting flight passengers are only allowed one item of hand baggage per person and small quantities of liquids, less than 100ml, must be placed in a separate sealed plastic bag.
