Follow in Katie Price's footsteps and wed in Las Vegas

03/02/2010

Travel firms are expecting a surge in enquiries for weddings in Las Vegas following Katie Price's revelation that she wed her on/off lover and Celebrity Big Brother winner Alex Reid in a quickie ceremony on The Strip this week.

Price and Reid tied the knot on Tuesday at the Wynn Hotel in Vegas in what they described as a private ceremony that was actually filmed - and will be screened by - ITV2 in What Katie Did Next.

Prior to their wedding in Vegas, the couple were staying at the five-star Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on Sunset Strip, which can be booked through several tour operators and travel agencies in the UK, including Virgin Holidays and Travel Republic.

Virgin Holidays is offering three nights at Planet Hollywood, including return flights to Las Vegas, from £579 per person for bookings made by February 9.

The Wynn hotel, where Katie, recently divorced from singer/song writer Peter Andre, promised herself to cage fighter Alex Reid, is one of the most exclusive in Vegas.

Weddings here or at other, cheaper, hotels and chapels in Las Vegas can be organised by UK tour operators who will take care of everything from the venue hire to the transport to and from the ceremony. If desired, they will even arrange for 'Elvis' to walk the bride down the aisle.

Couples planning to wed in Las Vegas, or indeed anywhere overseas, should make sure they have adequate travel insurance that will provide cover for items such as wedding outfits, wedding rings and cancellation costs.
