Bulgaria cheaper than other European countries

01/02/2008

Holidaying in Bulgaria is a lot less expensive than other European countries, according to an expert.

A spokesperson from Balkan Holdings said that the cost of living in the country was "substantially lower" than the UK.

Chris Northam, managing director, said: "It's a value destination over and above the more expensive eurozone countries."

Mr Northam said that the country had been "prevalent" in tourism figures but wasn't sure if it had reached its peak yet.

While the expert emphasised that the country was still value for money for both holidays and buying property, he said the country was "not very good at the moment" due to the exchange rate into euros.

Bulgaria has been recommended by the Post Office as a good value ski holiday location classing the country's resort of Borovets as the cheapest ski destination.

The resort was identified as being half the price of fashionable resort Vail, in Colorado.
