Bmi is set to launch 17 new routes later this month, many to far-flung locales of interest to tourists seeking adventure holidays.
As of October 28th, the carrier will be offering routes to the Middle Eastern cities of Cairo, Beirut, Amman, Damascus and Aleppo along with Khartoum, Dakar and Ankara, the Telegraph reports.
Also available will be flights to Tbilisi, Georgia, Yerevan, Armenia and a number of other locations in former Soviet republics.
According to Jim Louth of Undiscovered Kingdoms, the addition of the new destinations is evidence of travellers increasingly looking for unique experiences and a sense of adventure from their holidays.
Moreover, by Bmi taking the lead in offering flights to destinations often regarded as dangerous, the unfair stigma attached to these countries will dissipate, he added.
"Some of these destinations have a reputation for being dangerous - and you have to acknowledge that - but the reality is that they offer a safe experience because local people are genuinely delighted that you have made it there," he said.
