Where to go for a winter music festival

29/09/2009

No need to wait until next summer for the next music festival because if you time your winter holiday right you can find a gig going on just about anywhere in the world.

The Amsterdam Dance Event features leftfield electronics, techno, electro and club favourites over four days from October 21.

Turn your long weekend into a short holiday and watch dance performances at 30 venues throughout the city, which is easy to reach from the UK.

DJ Fatboy Slim and the Young Knives have both played at the Iceland Airwaves festival. Go there on holiday between October 14 and 18 and you'll be able to get into gigs at 15 downtown venues.

Travel to Dubai in November and attend the first ever Dubai Sound City three-day music festival.

While on holiday in this jaw-dropping destination in the United Arab Emirates you'll be able to see the Happy Mondays, The Courteeners, The Human League, The Wombats and many more.

Organised by Liverpool Sound City, the event will take place in five live music venues where some acts will be making their Middle East debuts.

Combine a ski holiday with music at The Big Snow Festival in the Andorra ski resort of Arinsal.

Go for a week-long holiday and enjoy an action-packed week of music, skiing and top music acts. Tickets are already on sale, but you might want to wait until the line-up has been announced before you commit.

Details of other global music festivals are available at www.virtualfestivals.com. Take a look before you book your next holiday.
