Your honeymoon is the most important holiday you'll ever take so it's important to make the right choice. Not everyone wants the same thing, of course, but here are some of our suggestions for holidays that are big on romance.

Mamma Mia fans could do worse than honeymoon on the Greek islands of Skopelos and Skiathos, where the movie was filmed. Indeed, there are many other Greek islands that are similarly romantic, not least of all Santorini. Just stay away from the bigger, more commercial resorts.

For a honeymoon in the winter, a ski resort is a good bet (but only if you like winter sports!) or a Caribbean beach.

One of the best ski hotels in one of the finest resorts in the world is the Fairmont Chateau (www.fairmont.com/whister) in Whistler, Canada. Voted Number One Ski Resort by readers of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, it's got everything you could ask for a perfect honeymoon.

If you're more into romantic strolls along a beach than racing down red runs, consider a holiday in a Sandals resort (www.sandals.com). They have several all-inclusive couples only hotels in the Caribbean where romance is virtually guaranteed.

For something a little more unusual, try Sri Lanka. The Kani Lanka Resort is tucked away in a coconut grove, away from some of the island's bigger resorts, and comes with its own spa where you can head for a touch of post-wedding pampering.
