Travelodge tells out of work Santas to fill their boots

03/01/2008

Out of work department store Santas are being head-hunted by budget hotel operator Travelodge to fill its managerial vacancies.

As part of its expansion drive, Travelodge plans to open a new hotel every eight working days over the next year, holidayhypermarket.com reports.

This will necessitate filling around 100 hotel management positions - for which, at least according to Ruth Saunders' resourcing manager at the firm, Santas are ideally qualified.

She said: "Travelodge believes in a diverse workforce so anyone from anywhere can apply to work with us. However, we don't compromise on top class skills and offer an excellent training and career advancement programme.

"It is obvious that Father Christmas has many of the skills we are looking for and hope our 'Save a Santa' recruitment campaign is a real success."

Santas keen on a career change and who are accepted onto the programme will first undergo a 12-week course in hotel management.
