Top 10 luxury city pads

19/02/2010

Bank bonuses are back and for those of you lucky enough to be on the receiving end we've got some great ideas on how to splurge your cash, from renting a luxury apartment in Paris to seeing the sights of Rome from a stylish penthouse.

News this week that Barclays has made record profits will no doubt leave many of its employees wondering where to celebrate so HomeAway Holiday-Rentals has come up with 10 absolutely top-notch properties in Europe's finest cities.

Top of its list is a four-bedroom penthouse apartment in London, which costs £2,995 for a week, but we reckon the city boys will have their sights on something much more ambitious, such as the Big Apple.

HomeAway Holiday-Rentals can offer a uber-cool loft-style apartment in the heart of Manhattan with floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed brick walls, dark wood floors and a marble bath. It's not cheap at £1,316 for a studio, but this is the price you have to pay to feel like you're living on a movie set.

Number two on the list is a two-bedroom 'antique' apartment in Nice, close to the promenade, which will appeal to those looking for a classier kind of mini-break.

A penthouse with sweeping views of ancient Rome comes in at number three, followed by two-bedroom apartment in the stylish St Germain des Pres district of Paris.

If your bonus isn't quite as big as you'd hoped, there's a reasonably-priced apartment in the centre of Barcelona, one of Europe's best party cities, which you could share with seven friends for a week for £1,228.

Other suggestions for luxury mini-breaks include Amsterdam, Prague, Lisbon and Berlin - but really, the world is your oyster.
