Severe weather continuing to disrupt travel across the UK & Europe

The severe weather conditions, including widespread snow and ice, is continuing to disrupt travel today and is likely to do so right up until Christmas. Airports across the country are still experiencing varying degrees of disruption; passengers are advised to check with their airline before travelling to the airport.

Eurostar hasn’t escaped the weather, with passengers queuing for several hours at St Pancras Station. Passengers are advised to stay at home and exchange their tickets for travel at a later date.

If your journey only requires you to get to the continent and not further afield you could try a ferry. According to the Passenger Shipping Association, Ferry operators are currently operating without significant delays and are confident that they can run a good service up until Christmas. It is of course advisable to book before heading to the port.

Travel disruption across Europe

It may seem that the UK is the only country that grinds to a halt when we get a bit of snow, but this time we’re not on our own.

There is disruption to travel in parts of France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland.

There are problems on the roads in Northern France due to restrictions imposed on HGV Lorries.

Brussels airport will be closed until at least the morning of Wednesday 22 December due to a shortage of de-icing liquid.
