Peak time air travel 'a thing of the past'

The idea of peak times for air travel is fast becoming an out of date concept, a leading travel industry body has claimed.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), where once the majority of people could be relied upon to travel in particular months, this is no longer the case.
The development can be attributed to the growth of budget travel meaning people can afford more than one trip a year.
This has prompted travellers to head off at traditionally quieter times of the year, Francis Tuke, spokesperson for Abta said.
"Because we tend to be year-round holiday makers now, you don't tend to get the peaks and troughs that we used to, because people are travelling all the time. People can travel when it's a slow time for holidays and really clean up, " he explained.
Mr Tuke's comments come after a survey from Sainsbury's Bank found that close to 12 million Britons are planning to get away between Christmas and February 2008.
