New London to Lima flights and services from Kent

23/02/2010

Adventure seekers will have more options for reaching South America from this week following the launch of flights from London Gatwick to Lima, the capital of Peru.

Latin America specialist Air Europa will operate three flights a week via Madrid in Spain. Return prices start from £555.30 per person.

Iberia offers flights to Lima via Madrid from £560 return; flights are also available with American Airlines and Continental Airlines, operating via the United States, and Avianca via Colombia and Brazilian flag carrier TAM.

Meanwhile, budget airline Flybe has announced that it will launch the first scheduled passenger flights from Kent International Airport in May.

The low-cost airline will fly from the airport in Manston to Edinburgh using a 78-seat turboprop aircraft for the 80-minute journey.

Kent International is in East Kent, close to the seaside towns of Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate with easy access to Canterbury and Dover. The airline said the new flight would offer passengers an alternative to London airports.

Although Kent has international airport status, it does not have any other scheduled passenger flights. It is mainly used for cargo operations.

The airport's chief executive Matt Clarke said: Flying to Kent International is a hassle-free way to arrive in south-east England. Our airport is easy to get to, easy to find your way around and allows passengers to enjoy flying the way it's meant to be - boarding an aircraft merely metres from where you have parked your car.
