Lufthansa offers a personal touch

14/03/2008

German airline Lufthansa has launched a service at London's Heathrow Airport for its first class passengers.

The Personal Assistant service ensures that passengers are met at the aircraft door and then escorted through passport and customs control, avoiding long queues.

According to the airline, 50 passengers a day are currently making use of the service and are saving time on their arrival or departure.

Marianne Sammann, general manager UK and Ireland with Lufthansa, said: "Lufthansa's new personal assistant service offers a new and exclusive benefit for our best and most loyal customers flying out of London, further strengthening our leading position in the premium segment."

London is one of the airline's "most important markets", she claimed, adding that it accounts for the highest share of the company's UK-based frequent fliers.

At Heathrow today, the Queen opened the airport's brand new fifth terminal, which is set to boost the number of passengers it serves.
