Eastern Europe offers travellers 'good value for money'

02/04/2008

Eastern Europe offers travellers good value for money, one industry expert has advised this week.

Fregata travel, which has been organising holidays in Europe for over 50 years claims that travellers are now taking advantage of this in a bid to avoid the high costs of traditional favourites, such as Paris and Venice.

"Although it is getting more expensive at quite a rapid rate nowadays, [eastern Europe] is still a lot cheaper than most traditional destinations " said the manager of Fregata travel, Tim Campbell.

"This applies to the hotels, the eating out and the entrance fees – the whole lot is going to cost you a bit less than it would for more traditional western European destinations " he added.

Mr Campbell added that a growing number of holidaymakers "want to do something different" which could be one reason behind the increase in tourists visiting nations like Poland.

Last month, the Post Office predicted that the credit crunch could benefit eastern Europe's emerging city break market, as travellers will be seeking a cheaper alternative when it comes to getting away.
