Cruise line launches Beatles tribute tour

06/01/2010

They sang about living on a Yellow Submarine but the Beatles are to be remembered on a cruise ship, which will launch a voyage in March in a tribute to the Fab Four.

Royal Caribbean (www.royalcaribbean.co.uk) claims its six-day cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida around the western Caribbean will be the first ever Beatles tribute cruise.

Departing on March 28, the cruise will feature appearances by Beatles friends and associates including John Lennon's one-time girlfriend May Pang, and Ringo Starr's former fiancée Nancy Lee Andrews.

Entertainment will include performances by Beatles tribute band BritBeat, a costume dance party and a Beatles guitar workshop.

Prices for the cruise on the Independence of the Seas start at £584 for an inside cabin, rising to £1,169 for a deluxe suite. Prices do not include flights.

Chris O'Dell, author of a Beatles biography and Jorie Gracen, Paul McCarntey's photographer will also be on board, along with Joe Johnson, host and creator of the radio show BeatleBrunch.

The cruise will include stops in Belize City, Belize; and Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico.

Not a Beatles fan? Carnival Cruise Line (www.theelviscruise.com) will host its fourth Elvis Cruise, a four-night, all-Elvis extravaganza. Prices start at 9, excluding flights, taxes and charges.

The sailing in November will be hosted by Elvis' friend and confident Jerry Schilling, author of Me and a Guy named Elvis.

Entertainment will be provided by Elvis' Imperials, Joe Guercio and The Memphis Boys with Bobo Moreno. Also on board will be nearly a dozen Elvis tribute artists.
