'Comparison websites revolutionising insurance industry'

Price comparison websites are revolutionising the industry and enabling consumers to hunt down the best deals in no time at all, one expert has said.

According to Insurancewide.com, which is a comparison website dating back to 1999, the sector has been turned on its head over the past decade by these online facilities.

"Insurers are supportive and are closely involved," a spokesperson for the firm said.

The representative added: "This kind of service remains by far the best option for busy consumers and there is no viable alternative."

Insurancewide.com noted that the comparison website industry is continuing to make "good progress" and ensure that the right questions are being put to customers.

Earlier this year, fellow price comparison website Gocompare.com announced its car insurance service now spans over 80 providers.

Consumers can use these websites to scan insurance providers and find the most competitively priced product for their individual needs.
