Caravan breaks are 'flexible and rewarding'

05/08/2008

Caravan holidays have been described as a flexible and rewarding option for budgeting Brits this summer.

The Caravan Club, which is the largest touring organisation of its kind in Europe, made the claim, adding that there has been a ten per cent rise in pitch bookings already this summer.

A spokesperson for the Caravan Club said: "Some [people] may feel that a domestic holiday offers better value in the current economic climate."

The representative added that the Caravan Club has taken steps to ensure that those taking this type of break are not disturbed by heavy rainfall.

Members are kept updated of severe flood warning via the club's website and messages are also sent out by email to keep caravan owners in the know, the spokesperson explained.

According to the National Caravan Council, there are now approximately 500,000 touring caravans in use in the UK and 2,000 touring parks across Britain.

Furthermore, nearly two million Brits take touring caravan holidays each year
