Britain becoming a nation of happy campers

25/02/2008

Britain could soon become a nation of happy campers if new reports are to be believed.

Tour operator Keycamp claims that camping holidays offer "something for all the family" and provide the ideal break from city life.

Its comments are supported by the AA, which last Easter reported it had seen a "boom" in the number of holidaymakers favouring camping and caravanning breaks.

Dave McKenna, head of brand at Keycamp, revealed what his firm believes is behind the recent boom in camping breaks.

He said: "Unlike many hotels, campsites have acres of land and benefit from a wealth of facilities that will keep the whole family entertained."

Dave added that campers can take advantage of the range of activities that are organised on many campsites and enjoy the "whole sociability" of the campsite environment.

According to the AA, the camping boom is so big that it is now beginning to have an effect on the consumer's choice of car.
