Birmingham getting 20 new destinations

16/01/2008

Travellers in Birmingham will find it easier to fly to Europe in April, as Ryanair makes it its 25th European base.

The low cost airline is launching 20 new routes to nine different countries from the West Midlands airport.

The first route will begin on April 1st and will be to Barcelona, gradually other routes will start with all 20 being in operation by July 4th.

Prices for tickets to the new destinations will all begin at £24, with the two previous routes to Ireland starting from £5.

Some of the new destinations include Pisa, Stockholm, Marseille and Oslo and it is expected that five million passengers will travel per year.

Michael O'Leary, chief executive of Ryanair said that people in the West Midlands could look forward to "Europe's guaranteed lowest fairs and best punctuality".

The airline will begin with two planes flying from the airport eventually increasing to ten Boeing 737-800 airplanes.

Earlier this month Ryanair announced that it would start flying from Bournemouth airport offering flights to Malaga, Palma and Murcia.
