Airports will minimise disruption resulting from the reform to regulations over hand luggage, it has been predicted.
After the lifting of the one-bag limit last week, some travel industry figures have predicted widespread confusion and disruption for travellers, who are likely to be confused by the fact that the restrictions have only been lifted in selected airports and not all by carriers.
However, according to Tom Hall, of backpackers' bible Lonely Planet, airports will have planned for this eventuality and will be doing all they can to prevent inconveniencing travellers.
He said: "I think what we will see is lots of staff on hand at airports, especially those that aren't implementing the two-bag rule, lots of reminders to people before they get to security that this is what the restrictions are.
"That should minimise disruption, but there is bound to be a bit of last minute packing and repacking, so it may be worth allowing just a little bit of extra time."
The restrictions were lifted by 22 airports on Monday, however, they remain in place at the UK's second-busiest transport hub Gatwick Airport.
